Aruhan Rui Shi

Associate Economist

Ms. Aruhan Rui Shi serves as an Associate Economist at AMRO, where she is a member of the Financial Surveillance Group. Her work covers macro-financial surveillance and research, with a focus on financial stability, fiscal sustainability, banking-sector risks, exchange rate pass-through, and Japan-related surveillance.

Her research examines macro-financial risks, policy transmission, and the application of artificial intelligence in macroeconomic modeling, with work forthcoming in the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. Recent projects cover global banking default cycles, cross-border bank exposures in Asia, debt sustainability in Japan, and AI-based interest rate forecasting.

Before joining AMRO, she interned at the International Monetary Fund and worked as a consulting economist at the Asian Development Bank.

Ms. Shi holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Warwick.
