Ms. Sopheawattey joined the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) as a secondee from the National Bank of Cambodia in June 2023. She is a member of AMRO’s Country Surveillance Team and contributes to the surveillance work for Cambodia and the Philippines.

Her 10-year experience at the National Bank of Cambodia spans across diverse fields, including banking supervision, monetary policy, and financial stability. Serving as an economist and deputy head of Financial Stability Division, her responsibilities included conducting nowcasting and forecasting for business cycle; utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods to delve into various economic and financial issues; conducting systematic risk assessment; offering insights into the developments of Cambodia’s economy and financial system; and providing policy recommendations.

Ms. Sopheawattey holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and education in English. She obtained a Master of Public Policy specialized in Macroeconomic Policy from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan in 2015. She later earned a Master of Economics from Australian National University, Australia in 2019.
