Mr. Paolo Hernando is a Senior Economist at AMRO and currently serves as Desk Economist for Japan. Since joining AMRO in 2011, he has also covered Singapore, Myanmar, the Philippines, Lao PDR, and Cambodia.
Prior to joining AMRO, Mr. Hernando worked at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Philippine Department of Finance. Throughout his career, he has focused on macroeconomic surveillance, fiscal policy, and regional economic developments. He has also contributed to policy discussions on global economic, fiscal, and monetary issues and worked closely with international institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the ADB.
Mr. Hernando holds a Master’s degree in Economics of Development from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of the Philippines.
