Mr. Byunghoon Nam is a Deputy Group Head and Senior Economist at AMRO, where he conducts fiscal surveillance for ASEAN+3 economies and supports country surveillance for Korea as a fiscal specialist. He previously contributed to country surveillance for Lao PDR and the Philippines as a desk economist and fiscal specialist.
Prior to joining AMRO in 2019, Mr. Nam worked at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Korea for more than 15 years. He has extensive experience in the fields of macroeconomic analysis and forecast, economic policy development and coordination, fiscal policy, and public finance management.
Mr. Nam received his PhD in Economics from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Economics from Seoul National University.
