SINGAPORE, October 16, 2024 – The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation in knowledge sharing and capacity development, with the aim to contribute to the macroeconomic and financial resilience and stability of the ASEAN+3 region.
The strategic partnership aims to further cement collaboration between AMRO and SUFE in knowledge sharing and capacity building through joint research and training, among other activities.
The MOU takes immediate effect and covers a three-year period from 2024 to 2027. AMRO Director Kouqing and SUFE President Yuanchun Liu signed the agreement in Singapore.
“Amid elevated global uncertainty and heightened financial market volatility, forging strategic partnerships is essential to fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the ASEAN+3 region in its quest for economic and financial resilience and stability. I am happy that AMRO and SUFE are joining forces toward this goal and I look forward to a strong and fruitful partnership,” said Mr. Li.

I hope SUFE and AMRO can leverage our respective expertise in research and thought leadership to boost knowledge sharing, promote talent development, and together address challenges in the region,” said Mr. Liu.
AMRO is an international organization comprising 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) and China; Hong Kong, China; Japan; and Korea. AMRO’s mandate is to conduct macroeconomic surveillance, support regional financial arrangements, and provide technical assistance to the members. In addition, AMRO also serves as a regional knowledge hub and provides support to ASEAN+3 financial cooperation.
