Xianguo (Jerry) Huang

Senior Economist

Mr. Xianguo Huang is a Senior Economist in the Macro-Financial Research Group at AMRO. He co-authored the conjunctural chapter of the ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook 2025 report and has contributed to country surveillance as desk economist and mission member for several member economies.

From 2022 to 2024, he was seconded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he served as an internal reviewer for Fund publications at the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department. He also joined the IMF’s Cameroon team, where he was responsible for debt sustainability analysis and external sector assessments, supporting the implementation of the Fund’s lending programs to the country, including the climate-focused Resilience and Sustainability Facility.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Huang worked in the private sector with leading firms in the internet technology and automotive industries. His research interests include social security, population aging, artificial intelligence, and other broader macro-critical technologies. His work has been published in journals such as Social Science & Medicine, Environmental and Resource Economics, and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade.

Mr. Huang holds a Ph.D. in Public Economics from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. He is also a graduate of the Global Leadership Program at the University of Tokyo and was a visiting scholar at the University of New South Wales in Australia.
