Mr. Wenzhe Li joined AMRO in February 2026. He currently serves as Desk Economist for Cambodia and Monetary Economist for Japan.
Prior to joining AMRO, he was a Visiting Economist at the Bank for International Settlements from 2025 to 2026. He also worked at the People’s Bank of China from 2011 to 2026, where he held various positions in the Financial Stability Bureau and Monetary Policy Department, focusing on macroeconomic modeling and forecasting, monetary analysis, policy formulation and implementation, foreign exchange market management, and international cooperation. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Senior Associate in the Investment Banking Department at China International Capital Corporation Limited.
His research interests include macroeconomics, financial stability, monetary policy, international economics, and China’s shadow banking system. His work has been published in Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, Financial Regulation Research, Journal of Financial Research, and Public Finance Research.
Mr. Li holds a Ph.D. in Economics, a Master of Economics in Finance, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from Tsinghua University. He was also a Visiting Student Research Collaborator at Princeton University from 2016 to 2017.
