Dr Tanyasorn Ekapirak joined AMRO in January 2018. She is currently AMRO’s Country Economist for Myanmar and the Backup Economist for Brunei Darussalam.
Before joining AMRO, Dr Tanyasorn worked at Bank of Thailand (BOT) from March 2009 to January 2018. She has varied expertise in banking supervision and statistical modelling. As a senior examiner in the Risk Assessment Department. She led credit risk measurement and regulatory capital adequacy assessment proposed under Basel regulations. She was also extensively exposed to macroeconomic stress tests for financial institutions’ capital adequacy and the resilience of the financial system. From 2009 to 2011, she was responsible for quantitative research and statistical programming while she served as an analyst in the Data Management Department.
Dr Tanyasorn completed her Ph.D in Economics at Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan. She received a scholarship from Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA) to study a master’s degree in Macroeconomic Policy at GRIPS. She also holds another Master’s degree in Economics and a bachelor’s degree in Statistics (first-class honors, outstanding academic gold medal) from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where she was also a Bank of Thailand scholar.
