Tanyasorn Ekapirak

Associate Economist

Dr. Tanyasorn Ekapirak is responsible for undertaking the AMRO country surveillance work for Cambodia and Thailand (Back-up economist), Lao PDR (Sector specialist).

Before joining AMRO, Dr. Tanyasorn worked at the Bank of Thailand (BOT) from March 2009 to January 2018. She has varied expertise in banking supervision and statistical modeling. As a senior examiner in Risk Assessment Department, she was in charge of credit risk measurement and regulatory capital adequacy assessment proposed under Basel regulations. She also extensively exposed to macroeconomic stress tests for financial institutions’ capital adequacy and the resilience of the financial system. From 2009 to 2011, she was responsible for quantitative researches and statistical programming while she served as an analyst in the Data Management Department. In the academe, Dr. Tanyasorn has been a part-time lecturer at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand since 2016.

Dr. Tanyasorn completed her Ph.D. in Economics at the Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan. She received a scholarship from the Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA) to study a master’s degree in Macroeconomic Policy at GRIPS. She also holds another master’s degree in Economics and a bachelor’s degree in Statistics (first-class honors, outstanding academic gold medal) from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where she was also a Bank of Thailand scholar.
