Sekar Utami Setiastuti

Economist

Ms. Sekar Utami Setiastuti joined AMRO in December 2025 and is an Economist in the Macro-Financial Research Group. She contributes to AMRO’s macro-financial research, policy analysis, and regional and country surveillance.

Prior to joining AMRO, she was an Assistant Professor at Universitas Gadjah Mada, where she also served as Director of the Undergraduate Program in Economics. She has also worked with policymakers as a visiting researcher at Bank Indonesia, a social protection policy expert for the Government of Indonesia, and a research fellow at AMRO.

Her research interests include fiscal, monetary, and macroprudential policies in small open economies, with particular expertise in dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) modeling and Bayesian macroeconometrics.

Ms. Setiastuti holds a Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University and master’s degrees from North Carolina State University and Durham University.
