Ms. Benyaporn Chantana joined AMRO as an Associate Economist in March 2023, focusing on Thailand, Lao PDR, and Financial Surveillance.
Prior to joining AMRO, Ms. Chantana served as a senior economist at the Bank of Thailand (BOT). She began her career as an analyst in the Financial Institutions Policy Group, where she focused on banking supervisory policies, including those on bank risk management, acquisitions, anti-money laundering, and governance. She was also tasked with assessing the BOT’s compliance with international supervisory standards for the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP). She later took on the role of an economist in the International Department, where she was responsible for the BOT’s bilateral and regional financial safety net mechanisms, as well as negotiations for Thailand’s Free Trade Agreements concerning financial regulations and macroeconomic management. She also contributed to the EMEAP Working Group on Banking Supervision in monitoring regional banking stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ms. Chantana holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
