The world is at a turning point. As economies strive for a sustainable future, Asia stands out as a region with immense potential and significant progress. While global geopolitical fragmentation, notably the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, has created uncertainty for international carbon commitments, it also presents an opportunity for the region to take the lead in driving a collective, coordinated push toward a net-zero future. This report is a collaborative research effort jointly prepared by the staff of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (Benyaporn Chantana, Laura Britt Fermo, Chenxu Fu, Yin Fai Ho, and Michael Wynn); Boao Forum for Asia Academy (Li Cao and Huanqi Lan); and CICC Global Institute (Shuai Wang and Ziye Wang).
