Mr. Anthony Tan is Deputy Group Head and Principal Economist at AMRO. He leads AMRO’s macroeconomic surveillance work and activities related to the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM). Since joining AMRO in 2011, he has contributed to country surveillance, regional economic analysis, and policy research across the ASEAN+3 region.
He was previously seconded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he served as a Senior Economist in the Regional Studies Division and as Desk Economist for Brunei Darussalam in the Asia and Pacific Department. He has extensive experience in macroeconomic surveillance and regional financial cooperation and has contributed to AMRO’s flagship publications, including the ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook.
His research interests include monetary and fiscal policy, climate economics, economic diversification, external sector developments, and regional economic integration.
Mr. Tan holds a Master’s in Economics from the University of Malaya and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the London School of Economics.
