Mr. Jungsung Kim joined the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) in July 2023. He is a member of AMRO’s surveillance function and contributes to analysis on the Chinese, Hong Kong and Cambodian economies. He also served as a back-up economist for Japan previously.
As an experienced macroeconomist, Mr. Kim previously worked as an economist at the Bank of Korea (BoK) from 2003 to 2023. During his tenure at the BoK, he garnered extensive research experience in various aspects of the real sector, encompassing macroeconomic forecasting, labor market dynamics, and asset markets. Furthermore, he provided market analysis and made substantial contributions to promoting stability in the country’s foreign exchange market. Prior to joining AMRO, he was Head Economist of BoK’s Research Department. His contributions include preparing a range of research papers for the Monetary Policy Committee concerning the development of Korea’s monetary and macroeconomic policies.
In addition to his role at the BoK, he also served as an Economic Policy Secretary in the Office of the President of Korea where he dedicated efforts to preparing and implementing economic policies.
Mr. Kim obtained a master’s degree in applied economics at Duke University, USA.
