WHAT WE DO
Providing Technical Assistance (TA) To Members
AMRO’s TA aims to strengthen the macroeconomic surveillance capabilities of member economies. It is tailored to the needs and economic profiles of member economies, taking into account a member’s developmental stage and policy priorities. The TA program also facilitates knowledge-sharing between AMRO, members and other international organizations.
It is provided through various modalities:
AMRO hosts secondees from member authorities. The programs have two objectives: (i) to provide secondees with on-the-job training opportunities to enhance their knowledge and experience in macroeconomic surveillance, CMIM support, and coordination-related work, especially relating to AMRO’s Annual Consultation Visits to member economies; and (ii) to augment AMRO’s capabilities with expertise from its member authorities.
Training Courses and Seminars focus on regional economic and financial situation and outlook, topical macroeconomic and financial issues, analytic toolkits used in regional surveillance, CMIM issues, and thematic topics such as climate change.
The Consultancy Program aims to provide hands-on technical support to members to strengthen their macroeconomic surveillance capacities by AMRO in-house experts or short-term external consultant(s). Projects include fiscal policy analysis and debt management, bank stress testing, bank risk assessment.
Launched in 2017, this program aims i) to enhance AMRO’s research capabilities through collaborations with external academicians and experts, ii) to expand AMRO’s network of external academicians and experts, and iii) to increase visibility of AMRO’s research activities.

Testimonials
AMRO has a positive workplace culture that motivates me to work harder, seize more opportunities and further enhance my understanding of financial cooperation with ASEAN+3 member economies and authorities. Not only is working at AMRO my first on-the-job training experience in an international organization, it is also a place where I built many friendships with people from across the region.
Chanthevivanh Keobounphanh, secondee from the Bank of Lao PDR
AMRO is a melting pot of cultures and races, a testament to the best that our ASEAN+3 region can offer. That melting pot offers progress, to a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. My competencies have benefited greatly from the penetrative intellectual discourse, entrenched collaborative spirit, and inclusive working climate that continues to define my days in AMRO.
