Mr. Yanchen (Yannson) Wang joined AMRO in December 2025 as a secondee from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). He serves as the Back-up Desk Economist for China and Hong Kong, China, and contributes to country surveillance for Singapore.
Prior to joining AMRO, he was an Economist in the Research Department of the HKMA and a Visiting Economist at the Bank of Finland Institute for Emerging Economies (BOFIT). At the HKMA, he specialized in macroeconomic surveillance and regional economic analysis of the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to the Macro-Monitoring Report for the Monetary and Financial Stability Committee of the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks (EMEAP). He has authored academic and policy papers on topics including the Chinese economy, financial stability, and international trade.
Mr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Lingnan University, Hong Kong, China, and a Master’s in Business and Quantitative Methods from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain.
