Dr. Siang Leng Wong joined the Financial Surveillance Group at AMRO in December 2021, as a secondee from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). As a Senior Financial Specialist, she leads various topical projects on financial stability and supports country surveillance work, in particular for China, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Previously, Dr. Wong was Lead Economist at the MAS, focusing on the surveillance of banks, capital flows, corporates, households, and property markets. A number of her risk assessments and research pieces have been featured in the MAS’ annual Financial Stability Reviews. One of the pieces has also been published in the South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Financial Stability Journal.
Dr. Wong has provided trainings on financial stability surveillance and macroprudential policies to various authorities (including those in the region).
Dr. Wong holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Several chapters of her doctoral thesis have been published in reputable journals including Energy Economics and Energy Policy.
