Mr. Fan Zhai joined AMRO in July 2021 and currently serves as Deputy Mission Chief for China. He is also a member of AMRO’s Hong Kong, China team.
Prior to joining AMRO, he was a consultant at China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and a senior advisor at Everglory Group. From 2009 to 2016, he held several senior positions at China Investment Corporation (CIC), including Chief Representative of its New York Representative Office and Managing Director and Head of the Asset Allocation and Strategic Research Department, where he oversaw asset allocation strategy, portfolio management, and macroeconomic research.
He was also a research fellow at the Asian Development Bank Institute and an economist at the Asian Development Bank. Before that, he worked at China’s Ministry of Finance and the Development Research Center of the State Council.
Mr. Zhai has published widely on macroeconomic and development issues in journals such as the Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Asian Economics, and Economic Modelling.
Mr. Zhai holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.
