Akifumi Fujii

Economist

Mr. Akifumi Fujii has been an economist at the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) since October 2023. He is a member of AMRO’s surveillance team and contributes to analysis on the Japanese, Indonesian and Laotian economies.

Prior to joining AMRO, Mr. Fujii worked at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) from 2010 to 2023. His experience in JBIC spanned from individual loan/equity transactions to overall corporate strategy planning. In his transaction-side career, he was involved in various deals such as financing renewable energy projects through public-private partnerships and investing in startups around the globe.

He also worked for the Ministry of Finance of Japan, where he helped design policy measures to promote overseas infrastructure finance, supply chain finance, and startup investment.

Mr. Fujii holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Columbia Business School and a Bachelor’s Degree in Laws from the University of Tokyo.
