July 16, 2020: In this podcast, Dr. Hoe Ee Khor, Chief Economist of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) discussed AMRO’s role in safeguarding macroeconomic and financial stability, as well as the pandemic responses of ASEAN+3 economies with Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) Chief Economist Taimur Baig. Dr. Khor acknowledged the challenges policymakers face in enacting policies to support the economy. While the pandemic has surfaced the downsides of globalization, he stressed that openness to trade and investment is the way forward for the region to grow.
