SINGAPORE, April 15, 2022 – The Executive Committee (EC) of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) has appointed Dr. Kouqing Li as the fifth Director of AMRO (and the fourth director since AMRO was transformed into an international organization in February 2016). The EC, the highest decision-making body of AMRO, comprises Deputies of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of ASEAN+3 members.
Dr. Li’s appointment was made based on the nomination by an interview panel comprising six EC members through an international competitive recruitment process. Dr. Li will succeed Mr. Toshinori Doi, whose term will end on May 26, 2022.
Dr. Li currently serves as President of the Shanghai National Accounting Institute, and Director-general of the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute. He will assume a three-year term as the next AMRO Director starting on May 27, 2022. According to AMRO’s governance structure, the Director serves as the chief of staff of AMRO.

The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) is an international organization established to contribute toward securing macroeconomic and financial stability of the ASEAN+3 region, comprising 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China; Hong Kong, China; Japan; and Korea. AMRO’s mandate is to conduct macroeconomic surveillance, support the implementation of the regional financial arrangement, the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM), and provide technical assistance to the members.
