From Crisis to Complexity: Resilience and Transformation in a Shock-Prone World — 30 Years After the Asian Financial Crisis

Thirty years after the Asian Financial Crisis (AFC), the ASEAN+3 economies have built strong policy frameworks and financial resilience. However, today’s landscape is defined by new structural and supply-side challenges—geoeconomic fragmentation, rapid AI adoption, climate risks, and re-emerging industrial policies.

Unlike past financial crises, today’s policymakers face complex interactions among economic, technological, and geopolitical shocks.

Co-organized by AMRO and the Korea Institute of Finance (KIF), the 4th AFTN Seminar aims to revisit lessons from the AFC while exploring how the region can adapt its policy frameworks for sustainable growth and macro-financial stability.
