In the short space of time since my appointment as Director of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) in May 2019, I witnessed the world we live in thrown into disarray and transformed by an extraordinary crisis.

AMRO celebrates the fourth anniversary of AMRO’s transformation into an international organization this month. Mr. Yoon Kyung Kim and Mr. Wenxing Pan are appointed to be Deputy Director for Administration and Deputy Director for Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization Support, Strategy & Coordination of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) respectively.
In the three months that I have served as the Director of AMRO, the global economic outlook has become gloomier, dragging down the growth prospects of the ASEAN+3 region.
Members of the Advisory Panel (AP) of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), convened in Singapore today to review and discuss AMRO’s research and surveillance work. This is the first meeting between AMRO Director Mr. Toshinori Doi, whose term started on May 27, 2019, and the AP, which includes three newly appointed members – Dr. Dave Fernandez, Mr. Daikichi Monma, and Dr. Atchana Waiquamdee.
