The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) has a vacancy for Research Analyst / Research Assistant in the Financial Surveillance Group.

The successful candidate will report to the Group Head of Financial Surveillance and support financial market surveillance and research activities to help identify financial stability risks in ASEAN+3 economies and design police advice.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the preparation of AMRO studies and reports by providing and analyzing relevant data and statistics using various analytical tools, summarizing the results and findings, and providing any other necessary support required by the authors of those reports.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the production of AMRO’s flagship publications and analysis, as directed by supervisors.
  • Support the financial surveillance team by developing, maintaining and managing surveillance and research datasets and tools.
  • Develop documents, electronic templates and automated dashboards to monitor financial market and economic indicators, in Excel and other visualization tools.
  • Provide administrative and research support for surveillance activities as directed by the supervisor.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by supervisors.


Institutional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in any institution-wide activity, such as AMRO’s internal committees or task forces, as assigned.
  • Perform any other duty as may be reasonably required in furtherance of AMRO’s overall goals.


The candidate should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, international finance, public policy, statistics, or related fields from a reputable university; a postgraduate degree would be an advantage.
  • Relevant work experience and knowledge, preferably related to financial markets and economic research; prior experience at IFIs (such as the IMF, ADB) or central banks, would be an advantage.
  • Experience with economic research, database and content management, particularly with third-party mainstream economic and financial markets databases such as Bloomberg, CEIC, Haver Analytics and Refinitiv (Datastream); familiarity with Asian economics and finance data would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with econometric packages such as EViews or Stata; experience with visualization tools like Google Studio or Tableau and programming languages such as Matlab, R, Python, or SQL would be an advantage; willingness and ability to quickly learn new tools and programming languages is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong data management and visualization skills.
  • A proactive and results-driven mindset, with excellent multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English.
